new friendly fires album released yesterday. not as good as that smashing eponymous album, but still pretty near top of the UK dance game. -d

ARTIST: Strange Talk
ALBUM: Demo Single (2010) ...

the sun is back out today. and apparently i really missed it. i mean, one morning’s worth of extra vitamin D and suddenly i’m on the hunt for summer jams. and this was the first one to come up on the shuffle. as far as indie dance pop goes, there’s nothing terribly new happening, but who cares? for a demo release from a brand new band, it pulls its influence from all the right places (phoenix, yeasayer, passion pit, friendly fires) and does everything it should. and with any luck, by the time summer rolls around, we’ll have a full EP to jam to. -d

*you can grab this track as a free download from their website, costing you naught but that one email address you don’t mind giving out anyway.

ALBUM: Friendly Fires (2008) ...

i should have posted this a long, long time ago. and i really have no excuse. i’ve had it for almost 2 years, and it’s not like it’s one of those albums that is just okay at first and then slowly grows on you. you love it the first time you hear it, and it only gets better. and i honestly i could post this entire album. i actually considered just doing an all friendly fires week. but that seemed lazy. so i picked this track in honor of le fiij et le crepe sucré (felicitayshuns kids) and if you’re all on your best behavior, i may post another one later in the week. til then, enjoy. -d
